Conde de Valdemar Gran Reserva 2004
"This supple red offers an alluring mix of fresh and mature flavors, with notes of black cherry, tobacco, cedar and smoke. Beautifully balanced and elegant, with light, firm tannins and lively acidity. Drink now through 2018." -- 91 points Wine Spectator
Vina Valoria Gran Reserva 2006
At 13 years old you would think that it is time to drink and even though it is beautiful now, it will keep going for another 10 years. The same blend as the Reserva but aged longer and from the best parcels in the vineyard. Full bodied, almost animal like with lots of herbs, saffron and cured meats. Great length but mostly beautifully balanced with lovely texture. A wine that is magnificent now but will age for 10 years plus. Decanting is advisable.
Vina Valoria Reserva 2013
A gem situated in the heart of Rioja dating back to 1860 making traditional unfiltered, unfined and old fashioned Rioja. A blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha and Mazuelo, the bouquet is a concussion of Jamon serrano, saffron, cured meats with fresh roasted herbs. For a Reserva 2013, it still has plenty to go. It’s vivacious, attacking on the middle palate with length, power and penetration. Keep and cellar for the next 5 years plus.
Palacio de Oriente Gran Reserva 2007
When it comes to Rioja, there are very few regions in the world that can match the vast variety and style of this region. This is a Gran Reserva 2007 which is starting to drink very well now however like most cases in Rioja, will also cellar for another 7-8 years no problem. Gamey, spicy and leathery on the nose with a deep garnet red colour followed by a full bodied, well balanced and deep red. As mentioned it’s approachable now but don’t be scared to put a case in the cellar as it will only get better for the next 5-6 years plus.
Vina Tondonia Reserva Tinto 2004
2004 is one of the greatest vintages in the history of Rioja even though the wine has been aging for the last 12 years, it’s still youthful and will keep improving for the next 10 years. Made from a blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha, Graciano and Mazuelo with aromas of aged ham, cocoa, roasted nuts and game. Extensive aging in American Oak leads to a very full bodied wine with great intensity and power yet with caressing soft velvety tannins and extremely long finish. Approachable now but will also cellar for a further 10 years.
Vina Tondonia Reserva Tinto 2003
2003 is one of the hottest vintages on record not just in Rioja but basically across Europe, however this is Tondonia.
Vina Cubillo 2007
Made from 65% Tempranillo, 25% Garnacha, 5% Graciano and 5% Mazuelo. Another vineyard from the stables of Lopez de Heredia, one of the greatest classical Rioja Alta where tradition has reigned unabated for centuries. The 2007 is a good vintage which is still relatively young, frankly these wines age forever. Full bodied, precise and delineated with aromas of aged ham, game and saffron, quintessential Rioja. Approachable now however will cellar for another 10 years.
Vina Gravonia 2005
Lopez de Heredia has owned land in the Rioja since 1877, Vina Gravonia is one of them, planted with 100% Viura with an altitude of 340 meters above sea level and an average vine age of 45 years. It is a south facing vineyard with poor stony soils. 2005 was a very good vintage though small in volume. This is a complete natural wine which is unfiltered and capable of aging for many years, at the moment it is fresh and crisp with immense acidity and concentration, very full bodied and idea with fish, shell fish or white meats. One of the most traditional white wines that you will ever find from Rioja.
Carlos Serres Gran Reserva 2010
We offered this a few months back from the 2001 and 2004 vintage. This is the 2010, another superb vintage in the history of Rioja, classical varieties of Tempranillo, Graciano and a little Mazuelo. Excellent now, for a wine under $60 you would open along-side a 2nd Growth from Bordeaux and a great 1er Cru from Burgundy and it is just as good! Balanced, lovely texture, full bodied, spicy and cigar box notes, delineated and powerful yet beautifully elegant. Drinking now or over the next 4-5 years.
San Vincente 2006
"A glass-coating purple/black colour, it offers up a brooding bouquet of wood smoke, pencil lead, liquorice, plum and blackberry. Opulent and rich on the palate with layers of succulent fruit, it should be at its best from 2016 to 2026."
93/100 Robert Parker – Wine Advocate
"This generous red offers cherry, currant and cranberry fruit, liquorice and spice accents. Full bodied and firm but not heavy."

Contino Graciano 2004
Contino Reserva 2004
Not many vineyards in the world can boast the special terroir that Contino has, high above sea level with a very continental climate, very little humidity and a perfect ripening season. This is a wine that oozes power, elegance and finesse, made mainly from Tempranillo old vines from selected plots, it offers Saffron, soft leather, violets and mocha. Just incredibly full bodied, expressive and dense with an alluring perfume of lavender, minerals, opulent with an incipient complexity and persistence. This is for the cellar. Drink between 2010-2020.
El Puntido 2006
"Purple coloured, it delivers a fragrant nose of wood smoke, espresso, Asian spices, black cherry and blackberry. Dense, round and smooth textured, this opulent effort is loaded with luscious fruit and has enough structure to evolve for 6-8 years. Drink this lengthy Rioja from 2016 to 2026."
