Pietra Susumaniello 2015
Susumaniello has been grown in Puglia for centuries. Almost always used as a blending grape and lately also vinified on its own. If properly grown, it can make stunning, full bodied juicy and aromatic wines with hints of dry herbs, dark fruits and wonderful depth and concentration. This is the case here even though it’s quite approachable now, it will also cellar for a number of years and this is just perfect with BBQ red meats, cheeses etc.
Varvaglione Malvasia del Salento 2016
Aromatic and fruity wine, it has an intense and golden colour, with light straw-yellow hints. On the palate, it is lively and balanced. This is a fresh and harmonious wine, with a delicate flavour. Ideal at this time of the year and is perfect with cheese, fish and seafood as this is dry and crisp with a mineral overtone.
Masseria Borgo dei Trulli Primitivo 2015
Salento and Puglia is synonymous with Primitivo. This offers an array of dry herbs, spice, cocoa and ground coffee, full bodied with immense richness and great concentration, powerful yet balanced. The most beautiful thing about this Primitivo is that it captures the traditional with the modern, it’s juicy with a hint of mineral overtones yet beautifully balanced. Magnifico!
