This might not be familiar to many people as it is a particular appellation in Northern Beaujolais which overlaps the appellation Lyonnais. However common to both is the Gamay Noir grape variety. This not your usual Beaujolais, it’s bursting with fruit, lovely aromas of dark berry, rosemary and tarragon but still displaying almost the characteristics of a junior red Burgundy. Lift, acidity, structure and complexity and at the price we think is just outstanding. Drinking beautifully now or over the next 2-3 years. Recommended drinking temperature is 15 degrees.
Our brand new arrival from this historical producer Louis Tete. Brouilly, a Cru Beaujolais exhibits fresh frontal fruit packed with berry notes bursting out of the bottle which is really what an excellent Beaujolais should be. Having said that, it also has an undercore of lovely acidity pinned by mineral notes and perfect balance. I think that you are going to like this because it’s true superb Beaujolais in a bottle. Beautiful now or over the next couple of years. Drink at about 14-15 degrees preferably.
New to us on a fresh shipment of this stunning Beaujolais producer dating back to the 1800s. This is his Rosé made from Gamay Noir with very little skin contact, dry, crisp and lovely acidity with a fresh perfume like a spring of wild strawberry, rose petals and rosemary water. Full bodied yet beautifully light, refreshing and dry. It’s one of those Rosé’s that keeps coming back to you. Served well chilled is exactly what you would drink on a warm Summer evening while you are planning your trip to France!
