In response to the Level 4 COVID-19 alert, and with heavy hearts, at 10pm 25th March 2020 we will be closing our retail and online shop.

During the lockdown it is unlikely that we will be able to take orders online, via phone or by email.

Despite this, you will be able to keep in touch with us by phone or email and we look forward to helping you with any enquiries - and maybe even helping you learn a thing or two about some wonderful wines to while away the hours at home!

The palate is rich and full yet with an elegance and purity at the same time; this is portrayed by the ripe flavours of passionfruit, orange and honey which is complimented by white pepper and lime zest. The palate is rich and long yet perfectly balanced by the acid leaving ones mouth cleansed and refreshed, making another glass irresistible.

    The Ungeheuer of Forst is one of Germany’s most famous vineyard sites. Riesling from here was poured at the opening ceremony of the Suez Canal in Egypt in 1869. The soil is based on sandstone with an ancient coral reef and volcanic basalt on top. Fermented and aged in 500l oak barrels for 10 months. Dry apricot, earthy notes, and a hint of smoke on the nose resolve on a palate that is balanced and lengthy, with a strong umami character to balance out the flinty minerality and extremely restrained stonefruit character. This wine explodes on your taste buds and remains there with a never-ending echo.

This wine is very good value in that it is very pure and fine. 9.5% alcohol Pale of hue with gentle green hints; a warm and attractive nose, lazy spring blossom and soft green aromas, then, as is a characteristic of this House, a palate of great intensity and precision, slate and fruit from the lime grove.
