North Eastern Italy has historically produced outstanding Pinot Grigio in fact among the very best in the world and always incredibly well priced. This is superb, it’s exactly what you would expect from a top notch Pinot Grigio, full bodied, crisp, fresh, flinty, aged on its lees for a few months so with great substance and concentration, just stunning!
The Red Edition, same varieties as The Pink Edition but of course with more Pinot Noir in it but the Pinot Gris and the Pinot Blanc offers beautiful perfume, lovely aromas and gives it an extra lift of freshness and vitality. A lovely Pinot Noir which is light, soft and almost in the style of a Beaujolais for comparisons sake which you can put in the fridge for 20 mins or so and is absolutely stunning! Crisp and refreshing with lovely cherry flavours, excellent on its own or with food. Delicious!

The north east of Italy where this particular Pinot Grigio is from produces some outstanding cool climate white wines. It is crisp, light and delicate, slightly oily with hints of Turkish delight, pine nuts and some lovely acidity. If you are tired of semi-sweet heavy Pinot Gris, this is for you, refreshing, flinty and mineral, excellent with food or without and drinking well now or over the next couple of years.
"It’s beautifully ripe on the nose displaying white peach, pear, citrus and floral characters. The palate is concentrated and richly textured with succulence and well-balanced acidity, finishing impressively long and smooth. A lovely dry-style with a beautifully flowing mouthfeel.
Nevis Bluff which was established in the mid 1990’s has been a great pioneer in Central Otago producing both Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. However their real star is the Pinot Gris, it’s dry and full bodied with lovely mineral overtones, crisp bright acidity with hints of Turkish delight, ripe pear and still remaining fresh and crisp. Frankly one of the best Pinot Gris in the country!

“Here it shows the heavier aromatics to symbolise its deep foundation through vanilla, toffee, dulce de leche and ripe pears. Fresh characters like melon, fennel and honey suckle bring lightness and are likely to reflect fruit from our younger pinot gris block. This wine spent a long time maturing on lees, partly in oak barrels, to bring aromatic complexity in the form orange cake and nougat.
An overwhelming sensation of grace and serenity hit us when tasting this wine for the first time after blending. Comforting and luscious, the gentle nature is like a welcome home wine, if you don’t mind the sweetness of the residual sugar. Its translucent and timid character make it rich and buoyant without the bling factor. The creamy fluffy textural element is that of a groomed gruffness, presumably from the time on lees in barrel, with hints of liquorice root and rock melon.
Our Pinot Gris gives drinking pleasure as a young wine, but is rewarding with time in your cellar – preferably five to seven years.”
"Beautiful complex aromas greet the nose with brioche, crème brulée, rock melon and honeycomb, followed by stone fruit, ripe pears, mango and quince. The palate is classic Dry River Pinot Gris, transparent, dense with a broad ‘gourmand’ mouthfeel and a light acidity to balance out some sweetness. The wine spreads fast through the mouth, coating the palate with high impact and finely textured tannins.
The wine can be enjoyed now, but will improve over the next five years."
