This delicious blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec is softly concentrated with deep and dense aromas of plush red fruits, blackcurrants, cocoa, spice and cedar aromas. Each variety contributes to an exquisitely varied array of aroma and great depth of flavours. The palate is medium-full bodied with layer of rich and succulent fruit and charry oak flavour. The long finish and fine tannins make this an ideal accompaniment for your beef dishes, richly flavoured foods and cheeses.
Time in bottle will yield further depth of flavour and a wonderful melding of fruit, oak, texture and moreish spice.
This Malbec from the Uco Valley is absolutely precise, deep and bright.
It displays delicate aromas of ripe plums and cherries with some gentle vanilla, caramel and leather notes from 24 months of oak ageing.
On the palate, a deep yet delicate softness makes you think of velvet. Finish is long and savoury.
Enjoy with Beef, lamb, and baked pasta.
Another great addition from the Bodega Septima. Even though it’s not the top Reserva from Septima, however it is astonishing how great value for money this is. This Malbec has plenty of lovely aromas of dark cherries and red berries fruit accompanied by a touch of vanilla. The palate is expressive, medium bodied, with nice texture and enough depth to stand up to the robust flavours of your next 'Asado' (that's Argentine for BBQ!)
A single vineyard biodynamic Malbec from Ernesto Catena’s Finca Nakbe in Vistaflores, Mendoza. This is to put it simply stunning, extremely full bodied with hints of leather, wild spice, dry herbs and supple tannins. Very mineral, very full bodied yet very elegant and balanced with an enormous finish. Approachable now once decanted however will cellar for up to 10 years. Simply put one of the best Malbecs from Argentina!
Made by Ernesto Catena, the son of Nicolas Catena who pretty much single handily put Malbec from Mendoza on the world map. This is also from Mendoza where high altitude, natural irrigation from the Andes, hot dry days and cool nights give full bodied and concentrated wines. The Padrillos Malbec shows appealing aromas of dark chocolate, blackberries with very soft and supple tannins and excellent length. Great with any grilled meats.
It drinks beautifully now however drinking over the next 4-5 years.
"Such pure and attractively ripe, dark-plum and berry aromas here. The palate has a very supple and smooth, juicy feel with succulent, fresh dark plum, in an open-knit, easy style." - 91/100 JamesSuckling.
Another clear example of why Argentina is producing the very best Malbec in the world. From Mendoza, a region situated at a very high altitude above sea level therefore producing very low yields and very natural wines. In the true style of Malbec, it has soft supple tannins with great concentration, minerality and high expression. The 2019 is another very good vintage even though vintages in Mendoza do no vary that much because of its topography. Excellent with grilled steaks, sausages and also pastas. Drink now or cellar for 5-6 years.
This Malbec shows all its typicality of Tupungato with a very fruity mouth with notes of plums and raspberries baked by some subtle notes of leather, toasts and coffee.
A full body wine with intensity and power with sweet tannins and refreshing acidity, yet very elegant and balanced; depth, structure, complexity, everything is here!
Perfect to pair it with meats, pasta and hard cheeses.
A very full bodied Malbec with great extraction, concentration and depth. Can be enjoyed now but will certainlycellar for the next 7-10 years. On the palate it delivers an array of violet, leather, chocolate, spice, blackberry and candid fruits. A lovely cedar vanilla background from the oak aging adds to the complexity. Even though the level of alcohol is very high, it is still perfectly balanced with great finesse and superb texture. It lasts and lasts in the mouth - it is elegant and very enjoyable.
Ideal with BBQ steaks, sausages etc.
Another example of what Argentina is doing with this grape variety, they really have become the masters at it. Even countries such as Spain and Italy where they are head and shoulders above the rest are finding it difficult to make wines of this quality at the price. A full body wine with intensity and power, yet very elegant and balanced, depth, structure, complexity, everything is here. Quite remarkable for a wine around the $20 mark to have so much on offer. An array of mocha, smoke and old leather with sensational middle palate focus and purity, it is the sort of stuff that you expect from something around the $50 mark. You’ll enjoy this, why bother with pretenders?
