Wines of Bize and Burgundy

Simon Bize, who has been making top notch wines for over a century, is widely regarded as one of the ten leading producers in Burgundy. That's quite an accolade!

This week we present a wonderful selection of his best from the last 12 years, exclusively for Accent on Wine customers.

The philosophy and style of Simon Bize is to produce wines that are a perfect expression of their terroir; the land has been and still is cultivated by hand and the emphasis is on harvesting fruit as naturally as possible.

Our relationship with Simon Bize goes back many years now. Customers who have tried Bize wines from us in the past will be quick to snap these up, especially the older vintages of '99 and '02, where quantities are extremely limited.

If you are a fan of great Burgundy and Pinot Noir par excellence then try these; you won’t be disappointed.

Salud!
"A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc that achieved nearly 14% natural alcohol, the 2009 Nenin is the finest wine I have tasted since the estate was acquired by Jean-Hubert Delon (the family that also owns Leoville Las Cases). The full-bodied Nenin exhibits lots of cranberry and boysenberry fruit, a hefty, rich mouth feel, and a fresh, lively, long, rich style. It can be drunk young or cellared for three decades. (Tasted once.)"
Robert Parker 91-93/100

Please Note: This wine will be arriving on approximately January 2012.

Chateau Nenin 2005

 <price>189.95</price>

A strong effort from Leoville Las-Cases's winemaking team, the powerful 2005 Nenin (14.2% alcohol) was created from a blend of 74% Merlot and 26% Cabernet Franc. Only 41% of the production was used. Its deep ruby/purple colour is followed by sweet cranberry, black cherry and cassis fruit, impressive intensity, full body, low acidity, ripe tannin and plenty of power and length. Although somewhat monolithic, it should develop additional nuances with 3-4 years of bottle age. It will last for two decades.
- Robert Parker 90-92
