This wine has also received more medals than an army general, including a gold at the Perth Wine Show. A glorious vintage which has produced a big, fat and almost chewy Shiraz with intense black pepper and spice, yet with soft, rounded tannins and a long robust, chocolate finish. Keep this one for 5 years, also. Again, we think this is a steal for the price and strongly advise stocking up large.

Most of you will be familiar with wines from this outstanding producer situated in Griffith, N.S.W. This is an instant stunner with its plum, dark berry fruit appeal but yet emphasizing its cooler growing conditions therefore does not exhibit overly ripe or aggressive tannins. On the palate it has wonderful intensity with very careful handling of oak which allows its typical terroir and natural characters of the wine to come through. This is an excellent partner for a Sunday roast or BBQ lamb. Drink now or cellar for the next 2-3 years.

This outstanding Shiraz has won Gold at the 2005 Perth Royal Wine Show and by popular demand we thought we would bring it to you again this week. Most of you will know this wine, but for those of you that don't, it is from Griffith N.S.W. from the Westend producer that we have been importing for years. The wine has a dark cherry colour with a bouquet of pepper, black olive and candid fruit. On the palate it displays a Rhone style structure of crushed black peppercorns, dark chocolate with hints of oak. Excellent with roasts or BBQ dishes. Drink now or cellar for the next 2-3 years.

We should mention before anything that this has been one of the Gold Medal winners at the New Zealand International Wine Show. Totally exclusive to Accent On Wine and produced and sourced from Westend's own vineyards. The appearance is of a golden honey colour possessing a soft lemon lime bouquet with honeycomb and roasted almonds. The wine is still fresh and light without having the sticky texture and heaviness of other desert wines. To date, Westend states Botrytis Semillon has been awarded 6 trophies and 20 gold medals. Exclusively served in Air New Zealand First Class International flights.

Our latest import from one of the top producers in Australia, Viognier which seems to be a lot more suitable to Australia than New Zealand, is always a great wine to have with lite dishes, fish and as an aperitif. This is their first vintage from Westend and is promising to become another variety that offers wonderful potential. At the moment it is fresh, clean, bursting with apricot and peach fruit, quite luscious showing very good depth, length and dry. Ideal with roast white meats, soft cheeses, fish and shell fish.

Our brand new arrival of the Westend Estate Richland Shiraz 2008. It has a big rich purple colour with hints of lavender, bosom berry with a lovely purple hue. Made in the traditional style in open fermenters, the wine is intensely varietal with spicy black and white pepper, olive grove and an abundance of berry fruit. Excellent now or over the next 3-5 years.
