Discovery Point Sauvignon Blanc 2010

A very welcome departure from the grassy, over-the-top and tutti fruity Sauvignon Blanc that pretty much describes most of the commercial examples widely available. Discovery Point is pretty much aligned with the great Sauvignon Blanc of the Loire Valley in France i.e. Pouilly Fume and Sancerre. This is a Sauvignon Blanc which is low cropped, no fining and given extra lees contact, the result is elegance, beautiful texture, dry with concentration and depth, in essence what great Sauvignon Blanc should be. This is no show pony with 8/9 grams residual sugar that hopes to impress and hopefully get some sort of a medal in some Mickey Mouse wine show. Drinking at its best now, have it with shellfish.
