Valli Gibbston Vineyard Pinot Noir 2009

This is perhaps the most promising and encouraging sub region in Central Otago. Definately also very challenging but out of the many Central Otago Pinot Noir’s now days and in most cases very commercial examples, this stands out, frankly not only in Central Otago but in the whole country. It is one of the very few where we found ripeness, texture, middle palate, acidity and alcohol levels are all perfectly balanced with is HIGHLY unusual for Central Otago Pinot Noirs. Beautiful perfume, spring flowers, thyme and lavender gives way to a structured and concentrated wine with nerve and delineation. A little young now but this definately has potential for ageing for 4-5 years plus and given the quality it is one of the very few that we have found that offers value for money which is not always the case with New Zealand Pinot Noir.
