Established in 1903 by the Castellani family who have been an integral part of Tuscany for over a century have always dedicated their passion and their lifetime to produce beautifully balanced and poised yet inexpensive Chiantis. 2017 vintage is a relatively cool vintage in Tuscany and emphasizes beautiful perfume of pine nuts, prosciutto and roasted meats. This is excellent with pasta, lasagne or any cured meats.

“The 2015 Ornellaia is a dream wine with magnificent balance. All the elements are in the right place. In most vintages, Ornellaia needs time to fully come together, but the 2015 is just impeccable, even in the early going. The warm vintage notwithstanding, winemaker Axel Heinz crafted and Ornellaia is more about finesse and power. The potent, bruising tannins Ornellaia can show as a young wine are nowhere to be found. Bright raspberry jam, mint, white flowers and pomegranate are some of the many notes that punctuate the finish in a memorable Ornellaia that will go down among the great vintages produced at this reference-point estate.”

Collazzi have been producing Chianti and Chianti Classico for generations, their style is classic Chianti Classico which is dry, clean, medium to full bodied with an array of dry herbs and beautifully perfumed. This is one of the best Chianti Classico that we have seen in a long time. Something that is very approachable now but will also cellar for the next 4-5 years.
A stunning Chianti Riserva that delivers an array of dry flowers and herbs with wonderful structure and concentration. This is something that is ideal with pastas, prosciutto or any cured meats. The 2012 Riserva is approachable now but it will also cellar for the next 3-4 years.
“The 2014 Guidalberto is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, although the percentage of Merlot was reduced slightly in this vintage from 40% to 30%. Cabernet Sauvignon fared well during this difficult growing season, thanks to the advanced age of the vines and the hillside positioning of the vineyards. The Merlot was more problematic. This wine is the result of extreme fruit selection, nonetheless. Guidalberto is a medium-bodied red wine with a soft approach and bright berry flavors.” - Monica Larner, Wine Advocate Score: 89/100
