  • Bollinger R.D. 1996 NZD $289.95 NZD $274.95
R.D. ('recently disgorged') was proposed for the first time by Madame Bollinger in 1961 on the basis of the 1952 vintage. This concept is unique, absolutely without equivalent in Champagne. In terms of blending, R.D. is a Grand Annee, but a Grande Annee that has aged in the Bollinger cellars for a longer period: a minimum of eight years and up to 20-25 years. This slow maturation allows for reinforcing the aromatic subtlety and complexity of the wine, developing a highly original style recognised and appreciated by connoisseurs of great wines. R.D. is also a recent disgorging that guarantees unique freshness and vivacity as regards the wine's venerable age and which allows the aromas to fully express themselves. In order to inform the consumer the disgorging date is printed on the label. By nature, the R.D. boasts a nearly-unlimited capacity for conservation, before of after disgorging. R.D. is an 'extra-brut', i.e. the dosage is very low (less than 5 grammes of sugar per litre).
  • Bruno Paillard N.V. Brut NZD $89.95
As a historical measure in Champagne, Bruno Paillard is definitely the new kid on the block. In just 2 decades they have achieved as much as other producers in centuries, this is one of those Champagnes that says "Only the best will do". If someone wanted to point at the future of this region, Bruno Pailliard would be a good benchmark. This is an elegant non vintage but Premier Cuvée that is consistent in style with great offerings of earthiness, toasted brioche with an exceptionally rich texture but yet finishing very light with an almost lemon and butter flavours that linger on the palate. As we said when only the best will do.
  • Geografico Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Cerraia 2005 NZD $46.95 NZD $43.95
Another of our exclusive imports that we have just landed from the outstanding producer Geografico of Tuscany. Made from Prugnolo Gentile, Canaiolo and Mammolo. Classic Tuscany grape varieties which have undergone a revival over the last 15-20 years, in fact Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is starting to rival many Brunello di Montalcino at virtually half of the prices. Outstanding perfume of leather, sea salt, white truffle and lavender leading to a full bodied, very structured and layered palate. Even though it is quite approachable now it will develop for another 7-8 years and quite frankly at the price of $36.95 it offers outstanding value for money.

  • Bollinger Special Cuvee Champagne NZD $114.95
There is really very little introduction needed for this classical Champagne house which has always been one of the benchmarks in Champagne. This classic champagne blend uses grapes from a given year, with the addition of reserve wines. Champagne author Tom Stevenson describes the house style as "classic, Pinot-dominated Champagnes of great potential longevity and complexity" which "tends to go toasty". The blend includes up to 10% reserve wines, which may be up to fifteen years old. This gives the special cuvee complexity and structure.
