Located in the famed Santo Stefano village in the heart of the Prosecco wine region, the Ruggeri winery is overlooking the dramatic, dream-like beauty of the steep slopes dotted with century old Glera vines.
This splendid hilly area enjoys a unique blend of climate, soil and exposure producing the best quality grapes of the entire appellation hence resulting in wines with the finest texture, concentration and the greatest length.
Ruggeri is a family owned winery with a centuries-old tradition in viticulture but it’s also considered a benchmark for quality Prosecco.
Ruggeri’s beautiful Prosecco is bursting with fruity and floral aromas of green apple, pear and lemon finishing with a touch of almond which adds complexity. Crisp acidity and persistent fine bubbles lead into a dry, refreshing finish. In 2 words? Graceful and vibrant.
Perfect as an aperitif and ideal with fish, this wine goes particularly well with hors d’oeuvres and light first courses.
Fresh in taste and color! Sgajo means smart and exuberant. So is this organic sparkling wine, a delicately sweet and aromatic version of an Extra Dry Prosecco. Sparkling limpidity, fine and persistent perlage, pale straw yellow colour. Showing fruity flavours with notes of apple, apricot and some banana. On the palate there is a great freshness, long and persistent flavour, bitter aftertaste and a very drinkable scent of pear. Pairs well with ethnic dishes based on raw fish and rice or vegetable dishes and vegan cuisine.
Prosecco has been a traditional sparkling wine enjoyed in Italy for centuries, the lovely aromatic flavours, freshness and racy acidity is what is so attractive about it. Lovely aromas of apple, pear and melon with freshness and a pick me up lift which is almost addictive this is what lovely Prosecco should be. If you’re new to it… don’t wait any longer.
Also produced from the prosecco grape in the Charmat method, this wine is delightfully smooth, fresh and well balanced with plenty of light refreshing bubbles and drier than the dry. A multiple award winning wine of great distinction.
If you wanted a superb example of excellent value for money when it comes to bubbles, this is it! This, believe it or not, will give many Champagnes at $60-$70 a run for their money! Made from a blend of Macabeo, Parellada and Chardonnay which are fermented separately before blending, and then bottled and aged on its lees for 2 years which is longer than most Champagnes nowadays. The palate is smooth, silky and beautifully textured, with outstanding depth, power and beautiful refined bubbles. If you are unfamiliar with Cava, we strongly recommend that you try some. You will be impressed!
This champagne is famous for its highly expressive bouquet, which stems from the very careful preservation of the grape's natural fresh red fruit aromas. It is one of the rare rosé champagnes to be made using the maceration (skin contact) technique, which gives it the extraordinary depth and freshness that has made it the benchmark for rosé champagne around the world. Intensely fruity flavours begin clean and well-defined upon entry, the wine then opens up to provide a melange of flavours consisting of fresh strawberries, raspberries and wild cherries. It has great length and is rounded and supple on the finish.
This majestic house situated just across Laurent Perrier, has been our exclusive import for many years, they produce a range of Champagnes from exclusively they own vineyards which is not always the case in Champagne. Their Cuvee Rose is made from Pinot Noir, light pink in colour with a bouquet of great freshness and wild strawberry. On the palate it is full flavoured yet showing lightness and delicate, wonderful refined bubbles, clean acidity and very refreshing.
Most of you will know that in terms of value for money, this is as good as it gets! A Champagne of this quality doesn't always come at this price. Basically it delivers the quality of many other Champagnes at double the price, made from a Pinot Noir and Chardonnay blend from the Tour-sur-Marne (very close to Laurent Perrier) that has been aged on its lees, giving it a nutty, yeasty, and light citrus flavour. The delicate finish is crisp and dry with a lingering acidity. A wonderful wine that is best served well chilled. You could even add a dash of Cassis or Frambois to make a refreshing apéritif.
Blanc de Blancs means that a Champagne or sparkling wine is made from 100% Chardonnay. This Champagne is also made from 100% Chardonnay sourced from some of the oldest and finest Grand Cru vineyards in the Champagne region. This particular style of Champagne results in a very powerful, full and dry wine. Flavours are more pronounced and robust with the classical "yeasty" tang that comes from the Chardonnay giving this bubbly a wonderful complexity. The bubbles are tiny and highly refined and the flavours will linger and last on your mouth well after each sip, all of which alludes to the quality of this wine. You will find much "branded" Champagne on the market that is of a similar quality to this wine retailing around $100 a bottle.
There is really very little introduction needed for this classical Champagne house which has always been one of the benchmarks in Champagne. This classic champagne blend uses grapes from a given year, with the addition of reserve wines. Champagne author Tom Stevenson describes the house style as "classic, Pinot-dominated Champagnes of great potential longevity and complexity" which "tends to go toasty". The blend includes up to 10% reserve wines, which may be up to fifteen years old. This gives the special cuvee complexity and structure.
2009 was an outstanding vintage by Champagne standards made from a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, it displays superb depth, concentration but all together refined and elegant with outstanding persistent bubbles. This is the sort of Champagne that does not spend a quarter of its budget on advertising and marketing. They are straight Champagne growers that have been making Champagne for the last 2 centuries. If you want a magnificent Champagne equal to any other vintage, try this! It’s as good, if not better, at a fraction of the price.
After being without it for almost 2 years, we welcome back this magnificent bubbly that has been with us for over 10 years. We get more requests for this than any other bubbly that we’ve ever stocked. And of course, once you try it, it’s quite understandable. It is an unpretentious, light, dry, very refreshing and crisp bubbly with lovely acidity, refined bubbles and ideal for big functions or just for the weekend! You can drink it on its own, you can mix it with orange juice, cassis etc. At the price it is unequal value for money.
We also welcome back our beloved Paul Louis after being out of it for a long time. This is made from Chenin Blanc from the Loire Valley and in the Traditional Method of Champagne, first fermentation and second fermentation in bottle, yeasty, rich and full bodied, with lovely refined and tiny bubbles, long bead and lovely balance. A great substitute for Champagne at a fraction of the cost. Something to be enjoyed on its own or also with fish, anti-pasta etc.
