  • Agricola Punica Barrua 2012 NZD $64.95 NZD $52.95
The so-called Sassicaia of Sardinia, made in collaboration with local Sardinian growers, is becoming a reference point for wines from this island and even Italy. Made from a blend of 85% Carignan, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot. On the nose it exhibit spice, black fruits, game and hints of leather. The palate is superb, balanced, poised and full bodied with great depth, length and concentration. This is a wine that has the potential within years to rival Sassicaia itself but at a fraction of the price.... more »
  • Ata Rangi Celebre 2014 NZD $52.95 NZD $46.95
"Célèbre has always had its own distinctive style as a bright, high-energy red with real concentration and a rich, mouth-filling texture. As a young wine, the 2014 is showing abundant aromatics with ripe blueberry, boysenberry and red currant notes meeting more exotic notes of star-anise. Long, fine, savoury tannins across the palate and the bracken-like earthiness from the Cabernet portions builds complexity, while Syrah brings spice and fresh, balanced acidity to the finish. • Chateau Cos D’Estournel 2009 NZD $789.95 Out of Stock
“One of the greatest young wines I have ever tasted, the monumental 2009 Cos d’Estournel has lived up to its pre-bottling potential. A remarkable effort from winemaking guru Jean-Guillaume Prats and owner Michel Reybier, this blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot (33%) and a touch of Cabernet Franc (2%) was cropped at 33 hectoliters per hectare. It boasts an inky/black/purple color along with an extraordinary bouquet of white flowers interwoven with blackberry and blueberry liqueur, incense, charcoal and graphite. The wine hits the palate with extraordinary purity, balance and intensity as well as perfect equilibrium, and a seamless integration of tannin, acidity, wood and alcohol. An iconic wine as well as a remarkable achievement, it is the greatest Cos d’Estournel ever produced. It is approachable enough at present that one could appreciate it with several hours of decanting, but it will not hit its prime for a decade, and should age effortlessly for a half century.” Score 100/100 Robert Parker... more »
  • Chateau Lafon La Tuilerie 2011 NZD $64.95 NZD $49.95
2011 is a relatively cool vintage in St. Emilion which benefitted the varieties of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Classical St. Emilion, layered and refined with lovely acidity, good middle palate, concentration and depth. This is almost the opposite of the 2010 in ripeness and power. Will cellar for 5 years plus.... more »
  • Chateau Lafon La Tuilerie 2012 NZD $64.95 NZD $49.95
2012 was one of the best vintages on record in Bordeaux. Seeing the prices of other 2012 Bordeaux, this is a sure thing in fact it's a complete steal! Owned and operated by the Lafon family well known in Bordeaux as wine growers and makers, this is pretty much the flagship of the company. 2012 is a blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon, its incredibly ripe and concentrated. On the nose it displays cassis, floral undergrowth, tar and mint. Because of the nature of the 2012 vintage, it offers superb ripe tannins, interlinked with espresso froth, mocca, lead pencil yet remaining fresh, pure and vibrant. Superb 10-15 second finish with excellent length. An outstanding offering for those that love classic Bordeaux at its best. Cellar for 8 years plus.... more »
  • Chateau Lafon La Tuilerie 2013 NZD $64.95 NZD $49.95
2013 was a vintage vastly different to 2009 and 2010, cooler with less heat yet a good long summer. This resulted in very even ripeness particularly for those producers that did a lot of work in the vineyard. Classical St. Emilion, vibrant acidity, lovely middle palate, freshness and good intensity. Without doubt one of the best balanced wines that we’ve seen in the last few years from Lafon la Tuilerie. Approachable now however this will be a gem in another few years, it has the pedigree and the composure to excel!... more »
  • Chateau Lagrave Paran 2015 NZD $24.95 NZD $22.95
Perhaps one of the great classic vintages of the 21st century, together with 2000 and 2005. Lovely bouquet of fresh berries, tar and dry earth, gives way to a profound, concentrated and harmonious wine that at the price it just over delivers. Perfumed and full body with perfect balance, suave and enticing… just beautiful. Approachable now but even though it’s still a Bordeaux superior will also cellar for 5 years plus.... more »
  • Chateau Lanessan 1999 NZD $59.95 NZD $49.95
We were quite lucky to get this stunning Bordeaux ex-Chateau from the last century! Chateau Lanessan dates back to the origins of the great Chateau in Bordeaux, it has always been a classic Haut-Medoc that in good vintages can develop for 25-30 years and this 1999 is no different. A wonderful bouquet of dry herbs, game and savoury fruits leads to a medium to full bodied well textured and layered wine that is drinking beautifully now but will also cellar. This is imported directly ex-Chateau so basically straight direct from Chateau Lanessan to Accent on Wine so you can have every confidence that it is in tip top condition!... more »
  • Chateau Leoville Barton 2012 NZD $164.95 NZD $156.95
“Dense ruby/purple, with cassis licorice and forest floors notes in the aromatics, Léoville-Barton’s 2012 is a relatively big, rich, masculine style of wine. This full-bodied wine needs 5-8 years of cellaring and should evolve easily for 25-30 years. Drink: 2023 – 2053. 92/100” – Robert Parker... more »
