Viognier is becoming another signature wine for them. This particular Viognier comes from the region of San Juan which is situated in the north west of the country bordering Chile at 700 metres above sea level. It is expressive with excellent concentration and depth, very well layered, elegant and balanced. Superb fruit and freshness, focused and full body with an outstanding middle palate, have it with fish, soft cheese or just simply on its own.

Zara ’09 is the palest gold colour with pure, floral aromas of jasmine, with orange and peach blossom. The palate is soft and ripe with cinnamon, clover honey and apricot flavours, and a lingering finish. Alan McCorkindale Viognier 2007
08/18/08
NZD $48.95 NZD $37.95
It is not often that we see Viognier of this outstanding quality from New Zealand. Having tried it alongside some excellent Condrieu, it delivers. It has got beautiful minerality, vibrancy and freshness and beautifully perfumed. A little on the young side at the moment but within a year it will fully integrate and will become richer and a more complete wine. What we like most about this particular Viognier is that it’s dry, it has great texture, excellent balance and is full bodied. For those wanting to try one of the very best Viognier in the country, this is it!

Westend Richland Viognier 2010
08/08/08
NZD $18.95 NZD $16.95
Our latest import from one of the top producers in Australia, Viognier which seems to be a lot more suitable to Australia than New Zealand, is always a great wine to have with lite dishes, fish and as an aperitif. This is their first vintage from Westend and is promising to become another variety that offers wonderful potential. At the moment it is fresh, clean, bursting with apricot and peach fruit, quite luscious showing very good depth, length and dry. Ideal with roast white meats, soft cheeses, fish and shell fish.
