  • Egon Muller Scharzhof Riesling Qualitatswein 2007 NZD $53.95 NZD $49.95 Out of stock
Egon Muller is internationally known for producing cutting edge Riesling. This particular one is low on alcohol with outstanding minerality and purity. It is one of those wines that offers the best of both worlds, very attractive when youthful however capable of aging as well. Pure, expressive, lively and racy. This wine is very good value in that it is very pure and fine. 9.5% alcohol Pale of hue with gentle green hints; a warm and attractive nose, lazy spring blossom and soft green aromas, then, as is a characteristic of this House, a palate of great intensity and precision, slate and fruit from the lime grove. Drink now or cellar for up to 7-8 years.
  • Pegasus Bay Dry Riesling 2007 NZD $32.95
Pegasus Bay Riesling WebOne of the originals from Waipara that over the years have become one of the most reputable and established vineyards in the country, they produce various wines but we believe that Riesling is their trademark and for the first time they have released a completely dry version styled on the German version of dry Rieslings which are generally speaking more full bodied, weightier and have greater minerality, the emphasis really is on clean terroir driven fruit with airy, fresh and focused expressions. This has to be without doubt among the top 3 best Rieslings in the country. Drink now or cellar for the next 5 years.
  • Neudorf Moutere Riesling 2007 NZD $41.95
Layers of sweet citrus curled around a taut, sinewy centre of minerality.
A wonderfully satisfying wine to enjoy on release, or to cellar for years and years. We always bang on about cellaring Riesling - this is because it offers so much satisfaction as a mature wine. Right now you can glimpse the future - the fruit is full and rich, balanced with some finely textured phenols and a supporting thread of mineral acid, which banish any possibility of cloying sweetness. In fact the wine can taste remarkably dry with an attractive perfumed earthy talc quality.
  • Pyramid Valley Lebecca Vineyard Riesling 2005 NZD $41.95 NZD $38.95
One of the new styles of vineyards, European inspired, which is starting to make an impact on the New Zealand wine industry. Owned and operated by Mike and Claudia Weersing who have been growing Riesling in Marlborough for the last 25 years, their Lebecca vineyard lies in the heart of the Rapaura District on deep gravely silt loams. Densely planted which allows volume and concentration yet encourages the vines to seek deeper soils which are mainly made of stone helping to protect perfume and vibrancy. This is a Spatlese style with an alcohol level of 8.5% bottled unfined and unfiltered, medium sweet with a great middle palate and texture, not finishing sweet but clean and fresh. Drink now but will also cellar for another 3-4 years.
  • Alan McCorkindale Dry Riesling 2009 NZD $24.95 NZD $21.95
Alan McCorkindale has 21 years of international winemaking experience behind him, making wine in Burgundy, Champagne, Australia and Germany. This Riesling has been sourced exclusively from his vineyards in the Waipara valley. It is a wonderful expression of how good Riesling can be from this area. Extremely fresh and crisp with hints of lemon tart and citrus fruits. On the palate it offers complexity, richness and elegance with a wonderful balance of acidity texture and fruit. Drink now or cellar for another 3-4 years.
  • Pegasus Bay Aria Riesling 2006 NZD $46.95
When it comes to Riesling in New Zealand the Pegasus Bay Aria is synonymous with excellence. The style is semi sweet, low alcohol, intensely perfumed and flavoured. It's a whole bunch of Noble Botrytis infected parcels of grapes all picked at different times. The aromas are of ripe stone fruits, nectarine and orange blossom with hints of passionfruit and melon. On the palate it is mouth filling and luscious but yet with a core of minerality and vibrancy. It is clean showing good focus and purity. It is made in very small quantities and without doubt probably the best Riesling in the country.
