Tchotiashvili Saperavi Rcheuli Qvevri 2016
Tchotiashvili vineyards are situated at the Alazani river valley between the Caucasus mountains and the Alazani river in Georgia’s eastern Kakheti region famous for its history in wine production where the native grape varieties such as Saperavi, Kisi and Rkatsiteli have been growing for centuries. The winemaker, Kakha Tchotiashvili is an artisan winemaker that has been reviving ancient local varieties according to the rich local tradition. The wines are made without any additives or chemicals, neither in the vineyards or in the winemaking process. His wines are produced in Qvevri buried clay, earthenware amphorae. The result is a dark, full bodied, immensely dense and concentrated wine with rich aromas of dark chocolate and tobacco yet remaining very pure, fresh and superbly scented with seducing floral notes. Ideal with roasted meats, casseroles or salami. Drink now or over the next 8 years.
