Marc Bredif Vouvray 1988
I remember the late 80’s era very well in fact in some ways very similar times as we have now, though quite different in other areas.
A wine from the 80s is a very rare treat, this is a 21 year Vouvray and still young, but Vouvray in good hands can make wines that rival any in the world, especially in longevility.
A mix of primary and developed fruit characters such as stewed apple, pear and quince on the nose and an edgy balance between sweetness and acid on the palate is hallmark of this wine.
For a 20+ year wine, it is still fresh and bursting with fruit, incredible concentration and minerality, broad middle palate, pure and focused, it needs to be tasted to be believed.
I have tasted many Vouvrays over time and I always found them to be a bargain compared to some of the Grand Cru Puligny-Montrachet. It says DRINK ME NOW!
