Billecart-Salmon Brut Reserve N.V.
NZD $114.95 NZD $109.95
Billecart-Salmon is one of the few remaining Champagne houses to be owned and run by the original founding family, in 1818 by Nicolas-François Billecart. Most of their fruit comes from their own vineyards which is actually quite rare in Champagne, this is not your big commercial brand where up to 20% of the price is spent in marketing and advertising, Billecart-Salmon like many other Champagne houses do not rely on big advertising budgets, they have built their reputation on quality, workman ship and class. Pale straw in colour, with a stream of extremely fine bubbles and persistent mousse, offering aromas of mature stone fruit, flowers and white pears, leading onto a palate with both fresh green fruit flavours, and the richness of toasted brioche and pastry, ending with a long persistent finish.

Bollinger Rose N.V. Brut
NZD $144.95
A completely new Rosé from Champagne Bollinger. The creation of this non-vintage rosé has been long in the making and a dream of the House for over six years. This wine has evolved not as a curiosity, but as with all of the Bollinger cuvées, as a careful assembly of the very finest ingredients by their talented, passionate team. In the meticulous House style, Bollinger Rosé is modelled on the Special Cuvée blend, combining the fruits of previous harvests plus the addition of reserve wines from their cellars in Ay. The final component, which provides colour and delicate aromas of ripe red fruits, is a proportion of still red wine coming exclusively from Bollinger's Grand Cru Vineyards in the Cote d'Ay and Verzenay.

Laurent Perrier Cuvee Rose Champagne
NZD $194.95 NZD $169.95
This champagne is famous for its highly expressive bouquet, which stems from the very careful preservation of the grape's natural fresh red fruit aromas. It is one of the rare rosé champagnes to be made using the maceration (skin contact) technique, which gives it the extraordinary depth and freshness that has made it the benchmark for rosé champagne around the world. Intensely fruity flavours begin clean and well-defined upon entry, the wine then opens up to provide a melange of flavours consisting of fresh strawberries, raspberries and wild cherries. It has great length and is rounded and supple on the finish.

A. Chauvet Brut Non Vintage
NZD $49.95 NZD $44.95
Most of you will know that in terms of value for money, this is as good as it gets! A Champagne of this quality doesn't always come at this price. Basically it delivers the quality of many other Champagnes at double the price, made from a Pinot Noir and Chardonnay blend from the Tour-sur-Marne (very close to Laurent Perrier) that has been aged on its lees, giving it a nutty, yeasty, and light citrus flavour. The delicate finish is crisp and dry with a lingering acidity. A wonderful wine that is best served well chilled. You could even add a dash of Cassis or Frambois to make a refreshing apéritif.

Bollinger R.D. 1996
NZD $289.95 NZD $274.95
Out of Stock
R.D. ('recently disgorged') was proposed for the first time by Madame Bollinger in 1961 on the basis of the 1952 vintage. This concept is unique, absolutely without equivalent in Champagne. In terms of blending, R.D. is a Grand Annee, but a Grande Annee that has aged in the Bollinger cellars for a longer period: a minimum of eight years and up to 20-25 years. This slow maturation allows for reinforcing the aromatic subtlety and complexity of the wine, developing a highly original style recognised and appreciated by connoisseurs of great wines. R.D. is also a recent disgorging that guarantees unique freshness and vivacity as regards the wine's venerable age and which allows the aromas to fully express themselves. In order to inform the consumer the disgorging date is printed on the label. By nature, the R.D. boasts a nearly-unlimited capacity for conservation, before of after disgorging. R.D. is an 'extra-brut', i.e. the dosage is very low (less than 5 grammes of sugar per litre).

Bruno Paillard N.V. Brut
NZD $89.95
As a historical measure in Champagne, Bruno Paillard is definitely the new kid on the block. In just 2 decades they have achieved as much as other producers in centuries, this is one of those Champagnes that says "Only the best will do". If someone wanted to point at the future of this region, Bruno Pailliard would be a good benchmark. This is an elegant non vintage but Premier Cuvée that is consistent in style with great offerings of earthiness, toasted brioche with an exceptionally rich texture but yet finishing very light with an almost lemon and butter flavours that linger on the palate. As we said when only the best will do.

A. Chauvet N.V. Blanc de Blancs
NZD $59.95 NZD $49.95
Blanc de Blancs means that a Champagne or sparkling wine is made from 100% Chardonnay. This Champagne is also made from 100% Chardonnay sourced from some of the oldest and finest Grand Cru vineyards in the Champagne region. This particular style of Champagne results in a very powerful, full and dry wine. Flavours are more pronounced and robust with the classical "yeasty" tang that comes from the Chardonnay giving this bubbly a wonderful complexity. The bubbles are tiny and highly refined and the flavours will linger and last on your mouth well after each sip, all of which alludes to the quality of this wine. You will find much "branded" Champagne on the market that is of a similar quality to this wine retailing around $100 a bottle.

Taittinger Brut N.V.
NZD $92.95 NZD $64.95
One of the great Champagne houses situated in Reims dating back to 1734 and producing world class Champagnes. The majority of the blend has been Chardonnay which is probably the reason why it's quite different to other Champagne houses. It offers tremendous mouth feel coupled with yeasty characters and refined bubbles. The bouquet is slightly reminiscent of brioche followed by roasted almonds which carries on to a structured and balanced palate, yet remaining fresh and up lifting.
