Jacques Seysses founded the Domaine in 1967 with the aim of producing fine, domaine bottled Burgundy. Dujac wines can now be found in top restaurants throughout the world. Domaine Dujac farms 32 acres in 11 appellations, including five grands crus. Domaine Dujac is redarded as one of the single most finest producers of Burgundy and can be compared in stature to the fine "First Growth" wines of Bordeaux.
Almost adjacent to Chambolles, Vosne Romanne can be said to be the muscle power of the Cotes Du Nuits. This wine has great depth along with lean fruit which always is concentrated and on the backbone. The wines always need 7-8 years to fully develop, even though 2001 it is a little more forward than perhaps 2002. It always exhibits tremendous purity with clean well defined flavours of game and forest floor.

Domaine Joseph Voillot Pommard "Vieilles Vignes" 2005
NZD $68.95
The much applauded 2005 vintage that almost with no exception was one of the greatest ever almost across every region in Europe. We will not dwell too much on the 2005 Burgundy's as their pedigree are well known now, we'll just say that this is another terrific example of what Pommard should be, powerful, structured, concentrated and racy yet very elegant, balanced and incredibly focused. Interestingly enough it is a wine that is drinking very well now however it would offer tremendous rewards to those with the patience to wait for it. This is what Mr. Allen Meadows, one of the most renowned Burgundy experts had to say about it:
A very Pinot nose of airy red Pinot fruit nuanced with subtle hints of earth, underbrush and a hint of animale gives way to serious, powerful and punchy flavours that are attractive and persistent. "Allen Meadows"

NZD $36.95

Another of our exclusive imports form the Domaines of Simon Bize in Burgundy, 2005 is an excellent vintage throughout Burgundy both for White and for Red. Made from 100% Chardonnay harvested from low cropping vineyards with no irrigation, it exhibits beautiful minerality, concentration and depth yet emphasizing freshness, richness and superb balance. Even though the wine was barrel fermented with further aging on its lees, it does not appear oaky or over extracted or over buttery, its just clean and balanced with outstanding texture and succulence. Drinking over the next 4 years.

For lovers of outstanding Chardonnay, words like Puligny-Montrachet, Batard-Montrachet and Montrachet is just mouth watering. Puligny-Montrachet is an appellation which is famous for the production of Chardonnay, in fact the best in the world. Philippe Chavy makes a clean, crisp, completely terroir driven wine with emphasis on clarity, purity and longevility. 2003 was a rather hot vintage which produced a voluptuous, full and very approachable wines when young with perhaps a little bit less acidity than you would expect from a cooler vintage. Straw green in colour, it has enormous concentration, clean acidity and outstanding minerality. The palate is opulent, rich and very generous which leaves you with the feeling of wanting more. Simone Bize Savigny-les-Beaune "Les Bourgeots" 2005
NZD $59.95 NZD $54.95
Savigny-Les-Beaune has been and is one of the most under rated appellation in Burgundy. Wines from this commune offer one of the best bargains to be had in all of burgundy. They are delineated wines with perfect expressions of their terroir. Even though it is a normal village wine, the 2005 is showing terrific acidity, nerve and concentration, very well balanced, good texture and fantastic length. Will start drinking quite well in about 4-5 years with further potential for another 3-4 years after that.

Simon Bize Savigny-les-Beaunes 1er Cru "Aux Vergelesses" 2005
NZD $93.95 NZD $89.95
From above the eponymous Pernand cru, Bize's 2005 Savigny-les-Beaune Aux Vergelesses suggests black cherry, blackberry, beet root, and high-toned distillates of black fruit on the nose. With a palate concentration approaching bitterness, this saturates the palate with black fruits, fruit pits, brown spices, beef marrow, and distinctly salty and chalky mineral suggestions. The tannins are quite refined. (And by the way, only 15% new barrels were employed.) Finishing with continued clarity and brightness as well as real grip, it makes a superb case for the inherent complexity of Savigny's top sites. I would revisit this quintessentially darkly-hued, concentrated 2005 in only three or four years but expect it to evolve interestingly for a dozen. Score: 93. -David Schildknecht, June 2007 (Taken from The Wine Advocate.)
