Chateau Lagrave Paran Rouge 2010
NZD $24.95 NZD $22.95
Vintage 2005, 2009 and now 2010 have become absolute classics in Bordeaux, we are just about to land the 2010 vintage that offers excellent value and really outstanding quality, a superb Bordeaux to drink over the next few years.
Ideally this is something that should be kept for a little while, around 3-5 years and at $22.95, it is almost impossible to get anything better. Medium to full bodied with hints of smoke, leather and dust yet with very clear and precise fruit, ripe, beautifully balanced with lovely structure and concentration.
A wine that you would put alongside many others at $40 or $50 and is just as good, if not better. For those of you who know it, you will know exactly what we are talking about, and for those who haven’t tried it, it’s worth getting some so you can find out!

Chateau Lagrave Paran Rouge 2008
NZD $24.95 NZD $22.95
This Chateau has become our best selling red over the last few years. After exhausting the 2004, 2005 and the 2006 we have just landed the 2008 vintage that even though it is not as hyped as the 2005 but still a very good one. Made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the wine is intensely perfumed, expressive and dense, medium bodied with ripe soft tannins, perfect balance, racy acidity, focused and clean. A little on the young side now but very approachable and will also cellar for up to 5 years.

Chateau Croix-Mouton 2009

"One couldn’t ask for a more serious owner than Jean-Philippe Janoueix, who has done such a terrific job at La Confession in St.-Emilion and La Croix St.-Georges in Pomerol. Tiny yields of 31 hectolitres per hectare as well as super attention to detail in both the vineyard and winemaking has resulted in a wine that is a final blend of 87% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot coming in at 14.1% alcohol. The wine is stunning, dense purple in colour, with notes of chocolate, espresso roast, pain grille, blackberries, and cherries. It is a hedonistic mouthful of wine to drink over the next 4-5 years."
