Chateau Latour 1989
Perhaps the most classical and consistent of all the first growths from Bordeaux, 1989 was one of those good vintages that was completely overshadowed by the classic 1990, a little like 1983 and 1982 infact. To accurately asses a wine like this, it must be tried at various stages, we have tried this around the year 2000 and it had already shed its coat of youthfulness. It had superb colour, full bodied, really pure, focused and delineated. We anticipate that it will be drinking beautifully now or over the next few coming years. We also introduce here a tasting from Wine Spectator:
"A monster wine of huge structure. Superdark-ruby color. Intense aromas of plums, berries and spices with highlights of cinnamon. Full-bodied, massive, adding loads of chewy tannins." Score:97/100 Robert Parker --Wine Spectator.
