  • Chateau Haut Batailley 2003 NZD $89.95 NZD $84.95
This particular property situated in Pauillac is classified as a 5th growth and has gone from strength to strength over the last 10-15 years. The 2003 vintage is a remarkably hot one but very suited to Pauillac, Haut-Batailley made an absolutely classic wine, a complete charmer. This is typical Pauillac with its cider and lead pencil aromas, big concentration of blackberry fruit flavours, compote and medium to full bodied. As with most 2003s the wines are very approachable now but will also cellar for a number of years. For anyone wanting a superb blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, this is it. Outstanding depth and vibrancy yet remaining very clean and pure. Cellar for 8-10 years.

  • Chateau Pichon Longueville au Baron 2003 NZD $269.95
  • Chateau Pichon Longueville Baron 2004 NZD $194.95
  • Chateau Lafite Rothschild 2004 NZD $894.95 Out of stock
  • Chateau Pontet-Canet 2002 NZD $119.95 NZD $109.95

A blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot, this wine will have 40-50 years of longevility and should turn out to be the greatest Pontet-Canet since such ancient classics as 1961, 1945 and 1929. It boasts an inky/purple colour as well as pure creme de cassis aromas, first-growth nobility and raciness, massive body, tannin and extract and a finish that lasts nearly a minute. With extraordinary purity and density, it is unapproachable at present and is best cellared untill 2012 and drunk over the following 50 years.

  • Chateau Pichon Longueville Baron 2005 NZD $394.95 NZD $369.95

Yields of 35 hectoliters per hectare and a final blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc have produced a black/purple coloured 2005 boasting gorgeous intensity as well as sweet, classic creme de cassis notes interwoven with incense, camphor and graphite. Powerful and full-bodied with abundant glycerin, high tannin, endearing freshness and sweetness and a long, 45-second finish, this hefty (13.5% alcohol) Pauillac should be at its finest between 2012-2030+.
    -Robert Parker 92-95+

  • Reserve de la Comtesse 2009 NZD $109.95
The finest second wine they have made, the 2009 Reserve de Comtesse is composed of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc. Flavourful and full-bodied with loads of texture and opulence, it offers up aromas of forest floor and black fruits. The surprisingly high tannin level is barely noticeable given the sweetness of the fruit and abundant glycerin. Nevertheless, the 13% alcohol is right in line with that of the Pichon Lalande. Drink the Reserve de Comtesse over the next 10-15 years. (Tasted once.) Like most Medoc chateaux, Pichon Lalande began their harvest on September 22, and finished on October 7.
    Robert Parker 91-93/100

Please Note: This wine will be arriving on approximately January 2012.
