Long considered 'top of the class' of the Cru Bourgeois, Chateau Potensac is managed by Michel Delon, the proprietor of the Grand Cru Chateau Leoville-Las Cases. The similarities are obvious.
Excellent youthful colour in this great Medoc wine with a first class bouquet of ripe cabernet, cedar wood, minerals (due to the deep roots of the old vines) and creamy new oak. Entry fruit is firmish and quite tightly reined, yet this wine shows big fruit under the tannic core. The finish is long, nicely layered and expressive.
Young and a bit tight at the moment, this will age extremely well over the next 7 to 10 years.
Fine deep cassis fruit, quite full, grippy and long, the Saint-Julien of the Médoc. Drink 2009-2016.

The dense 2005 Rollan de By offers terrific fruit, full body, loads of tannin and plenty of earth, black fruit, spice and forrest floor characteristics. It should round into shape in 2-3 years and keep for a decade or more.
