Valle Reale Vigne Nuove 2006

Situated on the East Coast of Italy by the Adriatic Sea dating back to the late 1800's, Montepulciano has been known all over the world. Valle Reale is situated in one of Italy's most beautiful national parks, with a slight maritime climate and mineral rich soils. This is a model for central Italian wines. The wine is dark in colour which shows strength, exuberance, vitality yet remaining elegant, balanced and pure. Made exclusively from the Montepulciano grape, the wine has wonderful depth, great structure and pretty much sets a new benchmark for modern Montepulciano D'Abruzzo. Drink now or over the next 4-5 years.

Simon Bize Savigny-les-Beaune "Les Bourgeots" 2003
NZD $59.95 NZD $54.95
152319
This is another of our exclusive imports from the family estate of Bize dating back to the early 19th century, the existing Domaine managed by Patrick Bize is the absolute leader in Savigny les Beaune. If you were to look at what real viticulture is, Simon Bize would be one of the best exponents. When it comes to the expression of terroir, this is it, the vines are generally old and yields low. Bize never exceeds 40 hl/ha. The 2003 vintage is a very hot one which kept yields extremely low. The wine at the moment is showing immense concentration, depth and massive structures yet clean, elegant and pure. There is no doubt that this is what great Pinot Noir should be. Cellar for 5 years.

As a producer in Savigny-Les-Beaunes, they really do not come much better than Simon Bize. This 1998 vintage is just drinking beautifully now. We tried it last night and the wine is utterly delicious. It is the true essence of Burgundy, soft, silky smooth, beautiful texture, everything here is about texture, feel, elegance, finesse and everything in perfect harmony. A shame that we didn’t have any nice roast lamb to go with it because we were just salivating and at under $50, where can you get an 11 year old Burgundy beautifully aged? Only at Accent On Wine!

Finca Enguera 2010
NZD $17.95 NZD $16.95

We take a look at the region of Valencia, not just the city. This is one of those unique wines that has to be tasted to really believe its superb quality. At $16.95 landed all the way from Spain, it is an amazing feat. Full bodied with hints of smoke, leather and roast paprika, it delivers an outstanding array of berry fruit, with excellent acidity, fine tannins and outstanding structure. A little on the young side at the moment however, it will also improve for 3-4 years. This is something you should stock up on because at $16.95 there are not many wines you find like this.

Simon Bize Savigny-les-Beaune "Les Bourgeots" 2000
NZD $54.95 NZD $49.95

Having tried this the other day after about a year, I had forgotten how good it was, it really is what you expect from a top Burgundy, on the nose the perfume was exuberant, violets, lavender and spring flowers everywhere. Drinking very well now, lovely acidity with lots of truffles, superb middle palate, broad with outstanding purity and focus. Drinking well now but will keep improving for 2-3 years.

Chateau Lagrave Paran Rouge 2010
NZD $24.95 NZD $22.95
112309
Vintage 2005, 2009 and now 2010 have become absolute classics in Bordeaux, we are just about to land the 2010 vintage that offers excellent value and really outstanding quality, a superb Bordeaux to drink over the next few years.
Ideally this is something that should be kept for a little while, around 3-5 years and at $22.95, it is almost impossible to get anything better. Medium to full bodied with hints of smoke, leather and dust yet with very clear and precise fruit, ripe, beautifully balanced with lovely structure and concentration.
A wine that you would put alongside many others at $40 or $50 and is just as good, if not better. For those of you who know it, you will know exactly what we are talking about, and for those who haven’t tried it, it’s worth getting some so you can find out!

Alan McCorkindale Syrah 2006
NZD $39.95 NZD $34.95
152847
A great new addition to Alan's portfolio and a great one it is! As you all mostly know that Alan really is one of the leading winemakers in the country mainly known for his whites but he was lucky enough to source this Syrah from Hawkes Bay and having tried it at various times frankly it’s up there with most New Zealand Syrah which sell for $70-$80. Beautiful purple colour boasting black pepper, dusted white pepper, black olive and a barrage of dark berry fruit. Drinking quite well now but also over the next 3-4 years.

Pleasant Valley Marlborough Chardonnay 2010
NZD $21.95 NZD $19.95
152239
A fantastic wine from this vineyard which seems to be going from strength to strength, this Marlborough Chardonnay given its quality should have a real price tag of $24.95+. Having tried it against some leading New Zealand Chardonnays, the wine is just brilliant. Made my Neil Cully, the winemaker for Cable Bay on Waiheke Island, on appearance it has a green golden colour with a butterscotch, ripe nectarine and melon bouquet. On the palate it is clean, sophisticated, slightly oily and focused. Drinking beautifully now at 4 years of age but will also hold a bit longer.

Pleasant Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2010
NZD $15.95 NZD $14.95
152238
Very few cases remaining of this lovely and excellent value Sav/Blanc, we have tried many 2010s, when it came to the crunch and the all important value for money it delivers hands down.
Not just your usual grassy, semi-sweet run of the mill Sav/Blanc but a wine that truly captures the essence of Marlborough, lovely acidity, pungent with beautiful middle palate and concentration, very clean and generous also full body, classic Marlborough really. At $14.95 per bottle it is hard to pass considering the quality of many commercial ones on the same price bracket.
