Combining the two varieties in a unique and anthological mix: fresh and fine aromas of exotic fruits of the Chardonnay and those of the Viognier. A lovely dry aromatic and minerally wine which for lovers of Chablis it will go down very well, though it still has very good upfront fruit with depth and minerality and finishing flinty and crisp. It is an excellent complement of white meats, fresh sea products, rices and young cheeses.

Old Vine Sauvignon Blanc 2010
NZD $13.95 NZD $12.95

Another exceptional offering for this very much underrated producer, it came to us by accident trying some top New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and this just happened to come out on top. Fruity, flinty and aromatic, a barrage of gooseberry and lychee but dry with a lengthy middle palate, succulence and balance, what really good old fashioned Sauvignon Blanc used to be and the main thing really, all for $12.95. An absolute bargain!

This is the baby of the family right from the heart of Tuscany made from Sangiovese with a small proportion of Merlot. The wine has a slightly crimson red colour with a touch of purple. On the palate the Sangiovese offers generous spiced and smokey flavours which are very well balanced by the fruity and plumy characteristics of the Merlot. This makes it a great companion to light pasta dishes, meals and your favourite BBQ. Excellent value for your money at $12.95. Drink now or keep for 2 years.

Old Vine Chardonnay 2008
NZD $13.95 NZD $12.95

This is one of those super deals that do not come round that often but when they do, you should take it! Selected from old vines, this Chardonnay delivers an array of butterscotch, freshly baked bread but yet maintaining a lovely freshness and fruit flavours. Frankly you would expect to pay close to the $20 mark for a Chardonnay of this quality. It is ideal with white meats or fish, drinking very well now but will also keep for a year or two. Excellent value at $12.95.

Tummil Flat Rose 2009
NZD $13.95 NZD $11.95

It might seem ironic but after trying many New Zealand Rosé, this is one of the very best available at probably one of the very best prices. As we said, ironic but true. A traditional style of Rosé made from Pinot Noir with very light skin contact hence it is beautifully salmon pink in colour. On the palate it is what true Rosé should be, light, dry, fresh, crisp and flinty with lovely fresh strawberry like fruit and refreshing acidity. Ideal for summer picnics, fish, cheese and at the price you should get yourself a couple of cases for summer. You cannot go wrong!

This outstanding Shiraz has won Gold at the 2005 Perth Royal Wine Show and by popular demand we thought we would bring it to you again this week. Most of you will know this wine, but for those of you that don't, it is from Griffith N.S.W. from the Westend producer that we have been importing for years. The wine has a dark cherry colour with a bouquet of pepper, black olive and candid fruit. On the palate it displays a Rhone style structure of crushed black peppercorns, dark chocolate with hints of oak. Excellent with roasts or BBQ dishes. Drink now or cellar for the next 2-3 years.

Gran Rojo Garnacha 2010
NZD $14.95 NZD $13.95
153390
Well as we said before in the stakes of diversity, quality, creativity and specially value for money not many countries can compete with Spain in the world of wine. A 40 year old vine Garnacha (Grenache) with power, elegance, lovely balance and freshness it will cost you $13.95 imported all the way from Spain. As a matter of curiosity we lined it up with some local reds ranging from $20 to $85, it would be a little embarrassing to mention the $70 or $85ones, so we won’t, let’s just say that at $13.95 you won’t find any better. It is a little young at present but it is showing lovely aromas of leather, black berries really juicy and succulent, good depth, good balance and it will also keep for a few years, you should try it next to other $40 wines and see what you think.

Pleasant Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2010
NZD $15.95 NZD $14.95
152238
Very few cases remaining of this lovely and excellent value Sav/Blanc, we have tried many 2010s, when it came to the crunch and the all important value for money it delivers hands down.
Not just your usual grassy, semi-sweet run of the mill Sav/Blanc but a wine that truly captures the essence of Marlborough, lovely acidity, pungent with beautiful middle palate and concentration, very clean and generous also full body, classic Marlborough really. At $14.95 per bottle it is hard to pass considering the quality of many commercial ones on the same price bracket.

Another example, if more were needed, that classical Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc does not need to be expensive. Made under the guidance of Steven Bennett who has always shown to have a great understanding of winemaking and growing in its purest form, has produced a dry, flinty, focused and fresh Sauvignon Blanc that captures the essence of its true terroir, Marlborough. This is not your tutti fruity, sweaty, surgery lollipop but rather the classical guava, clean fruit, and racy Sauvignon Blanc that one would expect from Marlborough.

Made from Chenin Blanc and Torrontes, it is refreshing, crisp and minerally with excellent freshness and vibrancy, for wine of this quality you would expect to pay well over the $20.00 mark, but you won't have to, $15.95 in cases of 12.
