Chateau Kirwan 2005
NZD $202.95
Out of Stock
EP11
Here we go again! This extraordinary wine is the greatest Kirwan made since some of the estate's historic offerings of the mid 1800s. An inky/black/purple colour accompanies a gorgeous perfume of incense, creme de cassis, licorice and subtle wood. It boasts thrilling levels of richness, full body, layers of concentration, high glycerin as well as tannin and a fabulous 60 second finish. This compelling effort possesses 50 or more years of aging potential. The 2005 Kirwan will be at its finest between 2014-2050+. - Robert Parker 93-95+

Domaine Dujac Echezeaux Grand Cru 2007
NZD $209.95 NZD $196.95
151973
A true example of what Grand Cru Burgundy from a great producer can offer, the farming here was biodynamic as is the case with most of Domaine Dujac properties. We haven’t tried this however judging from previous vintages and in the context of the 2007 vintage we anticipate a magnificent, superbly structured and multi dimension wine with enormous middle palate and clarity. The vibrancy, acidity and concentration will carry through for another 10-15 years plus.

Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia 2003
NZD $219.95 NZD $204.95
152734-1
It's not often that we offer this particular Super Tuscan as more often than not the price is prohibitive. This is the original Super Tuscan that challenged conventional winemaking and tradition in Tuscany. Since its beginning in 1968, its reputation has spread worldwide, of course we are talking about a wine which rivals any top Bordeaux and we are talking about 1st growths such as Chateau Lafite, Latour, Margaux etc. Made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the main Bordeaux varieties, the 2003 vintage was characterized by intense heat and huge ripeness yet Sassicaia has still made an outstanding wine which is beautifully balanced and clean with great purity. It will need 7-8 years to achieve maturity but it already shows an incredible pedigree and great potential.

Made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the main Bordeaux varieties, the 2006 vintage is one of the best in the last 25 years. The consistency, quality and reputation of Sassicaia rivals any of the best wines in the world, you would easily pay 3/4 times the price for many classified growths from Bordeaux and I’m not just referring to first Growths but also top St. Emilion, Graves and Pomerol. Take advantage of our very special indent price, put it in the cellar for 8/10 years and compare it to a Lafite, Margaux, Mouton etc and see what you think.

Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia 2007
NZD $219.95 NZD $196.95

"The 2007 Sassicaia (Cabernet Sauvignon) explodes onto the palate with masses of rich, opulent fruit that caress the palate with gorgeous length and a seamless beauty that is hard to fully capture. Dark wild cherries, plums, spices, minerals and herbs develop in the glass. This is an especially bold, perhaps slightly uncharacteristic Sassicaia in its extroverted personality, but it is beautiful all the same. The inner perfume and sweetness carries through the long finish, where the sheer weight and glycerol of the fruit leaves a lasting impression. The 2007 is more than a worthy follow-up to the profound 2006. While it may lack that wine’s freshness, structure and potential longevity, the 2007 is immensely appealing today, and should drink beautifully pretty much out of the gate. That said, Sassicaia is always the most restrained of Bolgheri’s heavy hitters. This is a superb effort from Tenuta San Guido. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2037. -- Robert Parker 95/100

Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2005
NZD $224.95 NZD $189.95
EP122
"The brilliant 2005 Grand-Puy-Lacoste exhibits classic Pauillac aromas and flavours of creme de cassis along with stony/floral notes. Proprietor Xavier Borie has created a wine that should rival the brilliant 1982, 1990, 1996, and 2000. Full-bodied with sweet tannin and superb length (a 40+ second finish), the purity of this beauty’s black currant fruit is something to behold. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2030." 95/100 Robert Parker
